On 18 August 2025, our short film Inspired by Brum finally stepped out into the world. After months of planning, countless late nights, and a whole lot of heart, we’re proud to say the city that shaped this story has now seen it come alive on screen.
And the response? Nothing short of incredible.

The Premiere Moment
When we first dropped the BTS on 6 August, people already started buzzing. Seeing the grind behind the cameras from frantic rewrites to sneaky late-night shoots gave everyone a glimpse of the chaos and passion that went into this project. But the full release on the 18th? That was the real payoff.
Whether it was friends in Brum, fellow students, or filmmakers tuning in from across the globe, the love has been unreal. Comments poured in about how the film didn’t just showcase Birmingham, but made the city feel alive.
Why This Release Matters
For co-directors Suvadeep Biswas and Bhanu Dakkumalla, this wasn’t just about creating pretty frames. It was about changing the narrative. Birmingham often gets overlooked, but through this film, it’s been reintroduced as a city full of stories, art, grit, and beauty.
And it’s not just the locals who felt it - the film continues to make waves on festival circuits:🏆 Top 50 Finalists – The 5th ColorPro Awards by Viewsonic

What the Audience is Saying
“Finally a film that captures Brum the way we see it. Raw, real, and full of life.”
“Made me want to explore the city I thought I already knew.”
“A reminder that you don’t need to leave Birmingham to find inspiration.”
Those words? That’s why we make films.
What’s Next for Inspired by Brum
We’re just getting started. The release is only phase one. The film will continue its festival journey, and we’re working on screenings, panel discussions, and maybe even collaborations with local creatives to keep the energy alive.
And of course, Inspired by Brum is a blueprint for what’s to come. Bigger projects, bolder stories, and more collaborations that give voice to the cities and people often left in the shadows.
A Thank You from the Crew
A big thanks to everyone who’s watched, shared, or shouted us out. To Canon UK for backing the vision, to our insanely talented cast and crew, and to Birmingham itself: this one’s for you.
The film is out now. Watch it. Share it. Talk about it. Because this isn’t just our story, It’s Brum’s.
